Developed a system that enables streaming or downloading of music, movies and other data to be rented to consumers (Digital Rights Management (DRM), Copyright Protection Technology).Research Fellow at the then Communications Research Laboratory (CRL) (now the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology, NICT) under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
2001
Successfully conducted experiments on encrypted data transmission and reception encoded by copyright protection technology between the Communications Research Laboratory of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (Koganei, Tokyo) and the Osaka International Convention Centre, by using the test channel, JGN, Japan Gigabit Network. Filed patent application for copyright protection (international patent application containing Japan, the U.S. and EU), and at the same time, made a direct approach to major film companies and music copyright societies (RIAA and MPAA) in Japan and the U.S. Participated in the Mega Consortium Security Section.2005
Underwent verification of our protection technology from Mardan, an entrant into the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) (Army, Navy, Air Force, National Security Agency, CIA and FBI) in order to obtain distribution permission from film companies.2006
K-Opticom Corporation (President: Tadao Tanabe/ Head office: Kita-ku, Osaka) and Akiyoshi Okamoto (President and CEO of LinksWare Co. Ltd.) jointly launched a business to distribute high-definition video to personal PCs by using fiber-optic cable.Entered into the rental distribution agreement (for films and music) with SONY PICTURES (a world first), successively signed with seven major companies.
2007
Started preparations for listing.Established branches in Tokyo, Santa Monica (USA) and Chiennai (India).
Japanese and international patents were granted for the system for preventing unauthorized use of the digital content data.
